ABOUT BOOK-A-ROOS
Book-A-Roos is a program that addresses all of the fundamental components of learning to read in the best possible environment.
- Taught by credentialed South Bay teachers
- Instruction targeted to your child’s current reading level.
- Small teacher/student ratio (1 to 6 or less) for reading instruction
- Fun-filled learning atmosphere
Research has shown
- Phonemic awareness instruction helps children learn to read and spell
- Systematic and explicit phonics instruction significantly improves word recognition, spelling, reading comprehension and is most effective when introduced early
- Repeated and monitored oral reading improves reading fluency and overall reading achievement
Whether your child is an emerging, intermediate, or advanced reader, professional teachers will instruct your child at his/her reading level to provide your child with the fundamental skills to begin and continue a journey that will last a lifetime.
ABOUT THE TEACHERS
Michelle Legaspi graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a B.A. in Psychology. After completing her undergraduate work, she then earned her CLAD Teaching Credential from LMU in 2001. In 2007, Michelle completed her graduate work at California State University, Dominguez Hills and received her Masters in Technology in Education. She currently teaches Third Grade at Meadows Elementary in Manhattan Beach.
Traci Granberg received National Board Certification in 2002. She has a B.S. in teaching from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and has earned a Masters Degree in Special Education from California State University-Long Beach. In her 20 years of teaching, she has taught grades K - 2 and has been trained and certified in Reading Recovery. Additionally, she has received extensive training in early literacy. Currently, she teaches First Grade at Meadows Elementary School.
